While knives are essential for completing daily tasks, to knife collectors in California, their value and craftsmanship hold so much more value. Avid collectors love possessing these valuable pieces because of their significance in cinema and their extensive history. Here at Exquisite Knives, we are big fans of the rare and expensive knives, gathering as much as we can for our inventory, in hopes that others within the community can add them to their collection.
With that in mind, there’s something to be said about characters wielding some of these classic pieces in tv shows and movies. A variety of them have fallen into the hands of notable heroes and villains that many of us have come to love. Let’s take a look at the various knives that have been used and their historical relevance throughout the years.
The Rambo Knife in First Blood
The character of John Rambo is portrayed by Sylvester Stallone, dubbed as one of the most iconic action heroes in the 80s, which was a great time for this particular genre of film to thrive. Rambo used a lot of unique weapons throughout the film, but the knife from First Blood struck a chord with many cementing it one of the most famous movie knives. The Rambo knife was designed by custom knifemaker Jimmy Lile specifically for this film. It was a suitable weapon for tactical and outdoor purposes, mimicking a Swiss Army Knife. The handle of the knife is hollow so that it can hold items like matches and fishing hooks. The steel choice on this piece was a D2, a semi-stainless tool that many people still use to this day.
The Cold Steel Large Espada In The Expendables
Another knife that was used in a different Sylvester Stallone flick was the Cold Steel Large Espada in The Expendables. The Large Espada had already caught the eye of many knife collectors. The blade features a G-10 handle scale, and the knife’s larger size makes it stand out in the crowd. If you’re looking to get your hands on a Large Espada, you’re in luck. It’s readily available in many areas, with a standard and more utilitarian-looking model available for purchase.
The SpyderCo Police in Training Day
Training Day is the epitome of crooked cop movies. Denzel Washington’s character, Alonzo Harris is a crooked cop who possesses the SpyderCo Police, a classic piece amongst law enforcement. This style of knife comes in a few different trims, these days. But the one Alonzo used was the original stainless steel, serrated 4” blade. The Police is available in both a plain edge trim or serrated stainless steel model.
Team Gemini LB Of The Walking Dead
The character of Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead has the Busse Team Gemini LB knife at his disposal. The Busse is a smaller, semi-custom knife company, which is well known for its Battle Mistress model. In contrast, the Team Gemini is smaller, but regarded as a top-notch survival knife. The blade comes in at 7.75” in length, making it a viable option for hunting and camping tasks. If you want something similar, you should continually check some of the other designs that Busse offers. Items within their collection are going in and out of production so it’s important to find something that will be worthwhile for your collection.
